Otyken has released a new music video and it's simply called, Mammoth. For those who follows this very popular Siberian band, the title should come as no surprise. That is because anyone, who has viewed one of their live concerts on YouTube will quickly become aware of images of the monstrous beasts romping across a frozen landscape on giant video screens, placed behind the performing musicians.
This is all done with AI, but I have to say it is a clever and pleasing use of the new technology. However, in this video, you won't see any of these elephant-like beasts - except for a close up of an eye that occurs at the beginning and at the end of the video. The opening eye shot breaks away to the band playing in a pristine Russian wilderness setting, where the band displays their unique style of indigenous Siberian music, while they are collecting colorful wildflowers. The vivant blossoms are then ground into a natural paint, which is used to depict a mammoth on the walls of a cave.
The story behind the Mammoth is pretty interesting, too. And how these beautiful lumbering beasts, died in an amazing quick freeze, which was so sudden that in left fresh flowers in their mouths that froze at the same time the animal did. The people survived, but only because they found caves, where they could take shelter from the Ice Age that arrived with no warning.
It is odd that in a time of extreme daytime temperatures, warming oceans, deteriorating air quality and extensive droughts that an innovative and well-informed band would concern themselves with the last Ice Age. But who knows, for we may be headed into another period of extreme cooling instead of the obvious global warming, which seems to get worst by the year. In the meantime, Otyken is still producing great music, which we can all enjoy.
